Free and Easy Ways to Fundraise! Part I

Did you know that you can help Habitat SHR raise money

…using no money of your own?

Raise as much money as you want using a Facebook Fundraiser. You may have seen many of your friends do it on their birthdays—but you can do it any time! Our Construction Superintendent and Volunteer Manager, Rainham raised over $300 using a Facebook Fundraiser earlier this year!

Why should you try this out?

1) It's FREE and EASY to set-up

2) Facebook does not take out any fees!

3) It's a great way to show your support!

4) No matter how large, or small-- your donations help our mission.

Here’s how to set it up:

Step 1) Click this link to open Facebook Fundraisers.

With this link, you will be able to easily create a fundraiser for us and share it you’re your friends and family to encourage them to help you raise money on Facebook.

Step 2) Edit the boxes (if you'd like.)

Here are some tips and suggestions on the boxes.

Who is organizing the fundraiser:

This defaults to your personal Facebook account.

Who are you raising money for:

Us! Make sure it says, Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads, Inc.

How much money do you want to raise?

Any amount you wish! Even if you miss your goal, we’ll still receive your generous donation. Also, Facebook will allow you to go OVER your goal as well! We just suggest setting a goal of $200+

When should the fundraiser end?

Pick a deadline for your fundraiser, and announce milestones along the way to build support. Example "5 days left!" We suggest holding the fundraiser between 10-14 days.

Step 3) Click "Next"

This page allows you to change the name of the fundraiser. If you would like to think of something nifty, now’s the time OR you can keep it as the default, “xxxxx’s fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads, Inc.”

Why are you raising money?

This is auto-filled, but please add any personal testimonials if you’d like.

Step 4) Click "Next" and pick a photo!

We suggest using the default photo (our cover photo) as it’s already the correct size for a fundraiser post.

Create! Voila! You’ve done it! Once your campaign is over, Facebook will handle it from there. We receive funds about 2-3 weeks after your campaign ends.
