​Position Title: Construction Project Manager
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: Exempt, Salaried; 40 hours/week, in-person/onsite
Hiring Range: $58,000 - $65,000
​
Habitat SHR seeks a professional, goal-oriented, detail-oriented Construction Project Manager to support the affiliate’s Construction Manager and Home Repair Manager in meeting all annual goals.
Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads (Habitat SHR) is an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat SHR’s office is located at 900 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk.

Habitat SHR’s mission is to create housing solutions that strengthen families and communities in South Hampton Roads. This is accomplished by two independent yet complementary initiatives:​

Building safe, decent, and affordable homes that empower low-income families to achieve their dream of homeownership.

Making essential home repairs and providing ADA accessibility for income-constrained South Hampton Roads seniors, disabled, and/or Veteran homeowners to keep them Warm, Safe, and Dry in their homes.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Program Coordination: Oversee all functions of planning and execution of all construction projects, including:

Ownership of all timelines

Work with the Construction Manager to determine material lists and delivery dates

Retain and grow vendor base
-
Certify invoices and bills for payment and assign budget codes

Request proposals/bids from subcontractors. With the Construction Manager or Home Repair Manager's selection of subcontractors

Draft subcontractor contracts
-
Obtain and retain all required documents
-
Submit all requests for temporary utility services
-
Submit all inspection and permitting requests

Manage construction department’s credit cards
-
Draft bi-monthly construction and home repair staff reports

Work with the Volunteer Coordinator on volunteer requirements and scheduling

2. Financial Management: Assist with budget tracking and reporting for all construction projects. Accountable for all document retention and project close-outs. Assist, as required, in the preparation of grant applications.
3. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with safety regulations and Habitat for Humanity’s standards. Promote a culture of safety among volunteers and staff.

4. Volunteer Management: Work with the Development Manager to ensure all volunteers have a positive and productive experience.

5. Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community partners, local businesses, and stakeholders to enhance program visibility and support.
6. Home Repairs: When required, conduct assessments of homes to determine repair needs and eligibility for the program. Provide exceptional customer service to clients, addressing concerns and ensuring service satisfaction.
7. Committees: Staff lead of the construction committee. Member of the land acquisition team.

Traits and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate excels in building strong relationships, is results-oriented, is an excellent problem solver, and a strong project manager. Additionally, they will possess/have:

Minimal of five years of construction and/or program management.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with project management software.

Experience working with volunteers or nonprofit operations.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

A good working knowledge of construction practices is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Work some nights and weekends as necessary to attend meetings and events.
-
Must have access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel to local meetings, community events, and build sites. This role requires day trips within the Tidewater area.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Some lifting to 40 pounds may be required.

This role is an in-person office-based position in our Norfolk, Virginia offices.
