Now Accepting New Homebuyer Applications

Deadline: March 1, 2015

By: Carla Holmes, Director of Family Services

Dorothy said it best in the classic American musical fantasy, Wizard of Oz – “There’s no place like home.” At Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads, we don’t provide our families with magical ruby slippers, but we educate, support, and equip hardworking families with the tools essential through their journey to homeownership.

As part of our mission to eradicate poverty housing and create a South Hampton Roads where everyone has a safe and secure place to call home, Habitat SHR provides affordable housing opportunities to qualified families — who might not otherwise have the resources to manage a traditional mortgage. We empower our families to take hold of the American Dream —offering them a “hand up, not a hand out.”

Thinking about becoming a Habitat Homeowner?

We are now accepting homebuyer applications for families with low to moderate income until March 1, 2015. We will select families based on the need for adequate shelter, ability to pay for Habitat housing, willingness to partner with Habitat SHR, and income and family size. Through the homeownership program, families are able to purchase a home at a zero percent interest – enabling them to achieve manageable monthly mortgage payments.

We are encouraging first-time homebuyers, Veterans, and active-duty military personnel with incomes ranging from $23,500 to $54,550 apply. Start your journey to homeownership by filling out our pre-qualification survey and/or complete the, Habitat for Humanity Homebuyer application.

Perhaps you’re not in the market for a home, but you know of a family who might qualify. Please help us by spreading the word to your friends, co-workers or church members.  For more information, please contact 757.640.0590 ext. 208.
