While millions of Americans busied themselves with preparations for Super Bowl XLVIII and the Seahawks and Broncos focused on the most important game of their careers, NFL Linebacker LaRoy Reynolds took off his helmet to tackle a serious issue right here at home – rehabbing a house to be purchased by a deserving HabitatSHR family.
On Saturday, the Jacksonville Jaguar partnered with Habitat SHR and worked alongside a host of volunteers to renovate a property in Suffolk donated by Bank of America. LaRoy, accompanied by his father, used his “football” strength to pull up dilapidated floorboards and reinstall new flooring. It was quite a task, but according to LaRoy, it paled in comparison to the work he puts in during training camp. The father-son duo worked extremely hard from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. – breaking only for lunch, a few interviews with media, and photos with fans…and the Habitat SHR team, of course.
A Maury High School graduate, LaRoy felt compelled to lend his support to helping low-income families in his community. As we celebrate the success of our local NFL Super Bowl Champions today, Habitat SHR also applauds the efforts of another hometown hero – NFL Linebacker LaRoy Reynolds. We appreciate his time, effort, and commitment to serving families throughout Hampton Roads. Thanks LaRoy…the construction crew gives you two thumbs up!
Here’s a quick look at the media clips highlighting this great partnership.Share
