Kenley Commons Home Dedication: Five Families, One Mission

| Posted on 21 September, 2015

On Saturday, September 12th, Habitat SHR closed out the summer with a bang!  The completion of Kenley Commons – a multi-unit subdivision located in Virginia Beach – resulted in FIVE dedications for five hardworking, deserving families.  Habitat SHR celebrated the accomplishment of each family with a Home Dedication Barbecue.

During the Dedication, Habitat volunteers, Red Hats, donors and community supporters enjoyed live music performed by Strictly Bizzness, an assortment of barbecue favorites, and kid-friendly activities, including corn hole, face painting and a bounce house.

In addition to heartfelt remarks from each family, the ceremony included congratulatory comments from Shannon Kendrick, representative for Congressman Scott Rigell; Shannon Kane, Virginia Beach City Councilwoman, Brad Kirkpatrick, Interim Executive Director; and Carla Holmes, Family Services Director.

To culminate the afternoon, each family received a golden key signed by Habitat SHR staff, corporate sponsors and members of the Kenley community to commemorate their milestone.  With the generosity and unwavering support of our donors and volunteers, we are able to continue the mission of Habitat for Humanity—eradicating poverty housing, improving communities, and transforming lives.
