Habitat for Heroes: Golfing with a Purpose

| Posted on 8 October, 2015

October 1 – While many Hampton Roads residents prepared for Hurricane Joaquin, our dedicated Habitat staff, U.S. Naval Academy Alumni, avid golfers, as well as many generous sponsors and donors braved the elements to raise awareness and funding for the Habitat for Heroes initiative. In partnership with the Hampton Roads Naval Academy Alumni Chapter, Habitat SHR hosted the Habitat for Heroes 2nd Annual Golf Tournament at Sewells Point Golf Course.

Despite unfavorable weather conditions, our faithful supporters navigated the soggy course — keeping the mission of Habitat at the forefront. We sincerely appreciate the support and sacrifice of all participants, as we work to provide affordable homeownership opportunities for our military families, right here in Hampton Roads.

Thank you again to all of our sponsors for making this event a success. With your contributions combined with our golf participants, we were able to raise over $30,000. How’s that for a rainbow!
