Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads operates two retail stores, one in Norfolk and one in Virginia Beach. Our ReStores are home improvement stores that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials and housewares to the general public.
The ReStores exist solely to expand the mission of our affiliate to build affordable homes that strengthen families and communities in South Hampton Roads. We also divert tons of usable materials from local landfills while providing an affordable source of home improvement materials for those who want to support the Habitat mission.
Interested individuals must attend a training with the Restore Director prior to volunteering in a ReStore. We ask volunteers to assist us with staging displays, sorting donations and customer engagement. You are welcome to volunteer during store hours at your convenience, once you have completed the 30 min training with the ReStore Director. If you are interested in volunteering at one of our ReStores, choose the button above- “Become A ReStore Volunteer”
Groups submit a request using the button above- “ReStore Group Request.” If requesting an official Habitat SHR ReStore Volunteer Hours Letter, use button above and plan for 2-3 weeks for your hours to be verified and the letter to be returned to you via email. Letters are provided within 3 months of volunteering. With any volunteer opportunity, it is the volunteer’s responsibility to keep up with their hours and locations AND to sign-in upon arrival to the site. We recommend taking a picture of your sign-in sheet when leaving the site with your phone as an easy way to keep track of your hours. ReStore volunteers contribute equally to our mission of eliminating poverty housing in South Hampton Roads. Please be patient in receiving a response and know we are doing our very best to place you where you are needed most within our organization. For information about locations go here.
*All ReStore volunteers must be 18 yrs of age. Youth volunteers please visit and search using Volunteer Hampton Road’s extensive Youth Volunteer listings. We do not accept court-ordered community service volunteers at this time. Here is a list of alternative for court-ordered community service.
Special thanks to all of our corporate donors! If your company is interested in making a donation to any of our three ReStore locations please contact Christina Tate at email@example.com or call 757.837.0089.
