Habitat SHR and ODU are collaborating to construct a home near campus on 39th Street - have you signed up to volunteer?
The Jones family has been matched with the property and has been on site helping with construction. The roof structure issues are resolved and framing continues on sides, roof and porch. We hope to be ready to begin completing the exterior of the house right after Martin Luther King Day by wrapping the house and installing windows, doors, siding and trim. Work for volunteers on the interior (insulation, drywall and finishing) is anticipated about President’s Day. In the meantime, VolunteerUp will reflect the most current schedule as we battle Old Man Winter for outside work and face six inspections before we can begin the interior of the house. You Can Help Transform Lives and Your Community
I know you don’t know me – but I ask that you please take a moment to let me thank you… because the hero of my story is you.
My story begins seventeen years ago. I left Ottawa, Ontario for America and married a U.S. soldier. We left for Europe for what promised to be an adventurous tour of duty. Unfortunately, that adventure turned into an emotional roller coaster ride spanning more than a decade and leading me to Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads.
